Happy Halloween!
This week is all about planning for upcoming events. A huge part of horticulture is the use of flowers and foliage in decorative settings, and we have tons of opportunities to do that around campus. We already re-flowered the breezeway and front of school, but we aren't stopping there! To get ready for senior project night, we are going to design some floral centerpieces, and we will also be making bouquets for the Miss WHS pageant this Saturday. Continuing the course, we will harvest what is left of our winter garden and begin moving our delicate perennials into the greenhouse. Then, we can begin preparations for the Spring plant sale!

Happy Friday everyone!
Next week we will have a test on the second unit of content starting with plant nutrients and moving through plant descriptors and plant breeding techniques. You will receive a study guide to help you prepare. The second half of the week we will begin our entomology unit. Entomology is the study of insects, so to help us, we will have a guest lecturer from the Cobb county extension office. Hey everyone, this week we will be continuing our lessons on weed management and beginning our plant disease unit. We will have our second test on Friday, and we will prepare for it on Thursday.
Great job this week getting the shed ready for homecoming... I'm really happy with how it turned out!
I will be passing back your King Corn video notes. You will need them to complete next week's study guide, which will review some of the information from the documentary. We will begin our unit on pests which affect the horticultural industry, starting with plant pests. Get ready to have some fun collecting all the weeds growing in our greenhouse area! |
