Hi everyone, sorry for the delay in posting the new assignment! This week we only have one topic to cover: wildlife habitats. There are two attachments found below. One is the wildlife habitat Power Point presentation, and the other is a worksheet examining habitat carrying capacity and the effects of habitat fragmentation. The worksheet can be a little tricky, so let me know if you have any questions. Some general tips are: 1. Read the assumptions carefully (especially the second part of assumption A) 2. Use a calculator to do your math 3. On the second page, ignore the "Procedures" section 4. For the questions on the back, we will be using Cobb County as our map area. For the purpose of this activity, we are going to pretend that all of Cobb County is one big forest. So, you will need to look up the area of Cobb County, and then use your answer from the first page to determine how many mountain lions can live in Cobb County. 5. For number 3 and 4 write "forest" and "100%", respectively 6. For question 6, pretend in our forest you build a giant interstate road right through the middle. How would this disrupt the mountain lion habitat? Would it still be able to access the same amount of food? 7. For question 7, think about if you have ever seen deer around human-occupied areas, and then think about if you have ever seen any mountain lions around human-occupied areas. Once again, please let me know if you have questions! I miss you guys! -Mr. Dezern Assignments:
